National Board Inspection Code NBIC Set (An International Standard)
The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors created the NBIC (National Boiler Inspection code). The ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) was founded in 1880 as a professional organization focused on technical, educational and research issues in engineering. Both of these organizations provide documents and publications and books for the betterment of society concerning boilers, Pressure Vessels and Piping.
The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (B&PV Code) provides rules for the building of boilers and pressure vessels with a factor of safety. They are stamped with an ASME code symbol signifying third-party inspection oversight by a National Boiler Commissioned Inspector endorsed by the jurisdiction. Both of these are international codes.
