Little Smokeys Bookstore is a book seller of ASME Codebooks BPVC. What is the ASME? Did you know the ASME is generally known for it boiler and pressure vessel codebooks. Steam boilers and pressure vessels lacked uniform code of construction in America even though there were many boiler explosions throughout the 1800s. The ASME established a Boiler Test Code in 1884. The turning point was the most infamous boiler explosion at the Grover Shoe Factory Disaster in Brockton, Massachusetts on March 10, 1905. As a result, in 1908 the ASME published it first boiler code for the States. In 1911, the ASME formed a Boiler Code Committee producing the Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, BPVC, that was published in 1915. Today, the ASME is noted for this international code BPVC as well as safety in industry, developing engineering standards in numerous technical areas including pipeline production, elevators and escalators, materials handling, gas turbines, and nuclear power.
